As everybody loves to laugh we have decided to research and rank UK cities based on how funny they are, revealing where in the UK Brits like to laugh the most.
The team here at Thomas Sanderson have used extensive research and looked at the number of comedians, comedy clubs and comedy gigs to establish the official list of where in the UK has the best sense of humour.
The funniest locations in the UK are as follows:
1st - London
2nd - Manchester
3rd - Glasgow & Edinburgh
5th - Birmingham
6th - Leeds
7th - Bristol
8th - Liverpool &Newcastle
10th - Brighton
While London had the highest number of comedians available for hire (90), and the most comedy clubs (83), Edinburgh had the highest number of gigs (274), thanks in large to its world-famous Fringe Festival.
Punching above its weight was Falkirk which, despite a small population of 35,850 managed to break into the top 20, in 19th place.
The least funny locations, according to the research, were found to be Wakefield, Worthing and Preston.

Commenting on the infographic and research, Richard Petrie, Marketing Director at www.thomas-sanderson.co.uk, said:
“Comedy has been a great release for many in 2020, with laughter keeping us going in these unprecedented times. We wanted to find out which was the funniest city in the UK – while it’s perhaps not a surprise to see London at the top, it was interesting to see certain locations punch above their weight, such as Brighton, Doncaster and Falkirk.”
