Nothing will ever be able to replace the benefits of a good night’s sleep, which makes Blackout Lining an essential if you are looking to furnishing any bedroom windows. A heavy backing that will help your chosen fabric hang more purposefully and keep light to a minimum.Read our guide to choosing the right blackout product for your home
Made from tight fabric layers that are lined with a black gel, helping to close up even the smallest of light gaps and keep the room in maximum darkness.
Our local design consultants will advise how best to fit your curtains, ensuring they are outside the window recess and as wide as possible to eliminate any gaps.
As well as blocking out light, Blackout Lining will also help keep your room cool in summer by blocking out the sun’s rays, and warmer in winter by keeping heat inside.
Our Blackout Lining can be combined with most of our fabrics and will also help patterns and prints appear bolder and richer when drawn fully across the window.
A must-have for bedroom curtains, Blackout Lining is a great choice for children’s bedrooms and any light sleepers in your home. Just draw them back and settle down for a restful and uninterrupted night.

Handmade just for you
Choosing the perfect curtain is much more than simply matching a colour or fabric to your existing décor. Which is why your local Thomas Sanderson designer will take the time to understand your needs and help you choose the right product. With models of each style and our full range of fabrics brought right to your door.
Yes, this light-preventing backing can be added to all six of our curtain styles.
You could but we would advise against it. After it is combined together with your fabric, the black gel that the lining is made from can show up behind lighter fabrics and make the stitching more visible.
Blackout Lining can be a complement to a large number of our fabrics, but will not be appropriate for some lighter materials as it may affect the overall look and feel of the design. Your local Thomas Sanderson designer will be able to advise you on this at your complimentary design consultation.
All of our curtains will be made to double fullness as standard to ensure that the fabric hangs evenly whenever they are drawn.
