Thomas Sanderson Launch the New & Exclusive Nexus Awning

New for 2008 is a product that Thomas Sanderson has been developing for three years. We are proud to present the NEXUS.

Our customers told us that they prefer a product that keeps its fabric fully enclosed when retracted; therefore the NEXUS has been developed with this in mind, resulting in a sleek fully enclosed cassette that fits unobtrusively on any wall.

Our customers also wanted a product that carried a beautiful range of fabrics. So for 2008 we are presenting our best ever range of fabrics in acrylic and the increasingly popular polyester. Our best selling fabrics are exclusive to Thomas Sanderson.

Because we wanted an awning that fits so closely to the house to prevent a gap between the awning and the wall, we’ve designed the NEXUS to fit closer to the house than any other product available.

All our awnings are designed to provide an entertaining area as an extension to your home, day or night. Each awning has the option of built-in lighting to create a lovely mood for those balmy summer nights. Our awnings also have the option of integrated stylish heaters; providing warmth to combat that late evening chill.

Because our customers love integrated heaters and light, but they don’t like unsightly control boxes needed to operate them, we have designed the NEXUS to hide the control mechanism by incorporating it within the awning casing. All our installers have to do is locate the solar powered light sensor, fit the awning to the wall and plug it in.

The lights on the NEXUS use LEDs to minimise power consumption and produce a beautiful glow for entertaining at night.

Both the lights and heaters are fully integrated into the control system of the awning which means you can sit down and enjoy instant heat and light at the touch of button.

Our awnings range comes in a wide choice of colours and finishes so as to coordinate with our customers’ internal furnishings and any patio furniture.  The NEXUS has been designed with a myriad of options for fabric, casing and a choice of stylish end-caps including the new ‘Garden end-cap’ designed to blend in with wooden garden furniture.

When designing the NEXUS, a major consideration was our customers’ preference to use the minimum amount of power, in order to reduce their carbon footprint. We also wanted to avoid lots of holes being drilled through our customer’s walls, as well as occupying no more than one of their sockets to provide power to the awning. For these three reasons all Thomas Sanderson Awnings will now be supplied with a solar powered light sensor. As the unit is powered by the sun means it can be located anywhere on the property, in the most appropriate place to measure the light. The light sensor communicates with the awning telling it to extend and retract automatically. This innovation is exclusive to Thomas Sanderson.

Thomas Sanderson Awnings have always been a product with state-of-the-art safety features and for 2008 we have made two major developments to all of our awnings…

First is the incorporation of the latest technology in wind detection into the awning model itself. By changing the design from a wall mounted wind sensor to a motion sensor incorporated into the front rail of the awning, means the measurement of movement is much more immediate - as soon as the awning starts to move unacceptably, due to excessive winds, then the awning will retract automatically. This innovation is the very best way to protect your awning and your home and it is exclusive to Thomas Sanderson.

Secondly, to ensure the safest installation of your awning, Thomas Sanderson have invested in powered lifts for all its Installation teams. The lifts are space efficient and are located on the patio to hoist the awning into position for safe and efficient attachment to the brackets.

We also want to provide our customers with a range of control options, as remote controllers can get misplaced and there is nothing more frustrating than investing in an awning then not being able to use it because you can’t find the handset! All Thomas Sanderson Awnings are supplied with a handset and a fixed wall switch so you will always be able to extend or retract your awning, even if your dog has buried your remote control!
