Technical
Here is some technical information on our range of pleated conservatory blinds:
Conservatory blind hardware
Our 20mm manual conservatory blind hardware discreetly accommodates all the internal engineering to deal with the complex shapes and sizes, ensuring neatness all the way round your room. All our conservatory blind rails are produced from high-grade aluminium which is extruded and powder coated to provide you with a high quality, long lasting finish. For the plastic components that are necessary in your blind, these are stabilised to ensure they won’t become brittle and can withstand the environment.
Mounting system
Our unique collection of mounting profiles can span across multiple glazing panels and is secured into window mullions or appropriate roof joists and provides excellent strength that is required to operate a tensioned conservatory blind system such as ours. This method of fitting blinds also reduces the number of holes that need to be made in your conservatory and also provides discreet routing for all necessary cables. We use a 4 core cable which is hidden from view to provide 24 volts to each blind. If any cable needs to run from the power supply to the conservatory blinds, this is routed through discreet cable trunking.
Bevel rails
We’ve developed an exclusive rail that allows the blind to be fitted onto windows with angled beadings. This means we can rebate fit our conservatory window blinds from a flat 45 degree angle beading right through to a sculpted, decorative style and still ensure the blind can be neatly extended without any light gaps.
Brackets
We’ve designed an exclusive range of brackets that enable the hardware (rails) to be installed into the most difficult and awkward areas of the conservatory. These brackets are produced from zinc plated steel and powder coated.
Maximum blind widths for window blinds
We can handcraft a remote control conservatory window blind up to 4m wide and 3m drop.
Fabric soft release
This is a control feature for remote controlled blinds that protects the stress put onto the conservatory blind cord and fabrics when it is in operation. When the blind has retracted, it automatically extends for a fraction of a second, relieving any unnecessary stress.
PowerPleat™ remote control
We’ve developed the use of radio technology in our remote control conservatory blind system because it offers the ultimate convenience and flexibility as your conservatory blinds can be operated by the neat handset or optional wall switch from practically anywhere in the home. Plus, the added benefit of our PowerPleat™ conservatory blind system is that your blinds can be ‘zoned’ or grouped into chosen zones to operate individually or in sequence as well as working with our optional 7-day timer control.
Pleated conservatory blind fabrics
All our specialist solar reflective fabrics are manufactured specifically for the conservatory environment. They come in a wide variety of opacities and all with protective coatings and are all made from 100% polyester fibres. Your conservatory blinds will be resistant to humidity, they are dust repellent and easily cleanable with an alkaline based detergent such as Dreft.
The co-polymer based material used on the coating carries the pigment that ensures the fabric is colour consistent when viewed from the front or back of the fabric ensuring your conservatory blinds are even in appearance.
Translucent conservatory blind fabrics vary in opacity and can allow maximum light penetration but offers minimum protection from UV protection and are typically used in the window applications. A semi-opaque is the most common fabric choice for the conservatory as it offers good levels of privacy and some UV protection no matter the direction of your room.
Our pleated conservatory blinds are compliant with T.N.O. Certification 1995 BB1-F3231 & F3216 which follow ISO9050 and DIN 4108 requirements.
Thomas Sanderson pleated conservatory blinds are colourfast to at least a Grade 6 on scale of 1-8 in accordance with ISO105:b02 (Blue Wool Scale).
We do offer a range of fire retardant fabrics which comply with BS 5867:1980 Part 2, Type-BFTS.
